Chromed Astra GSi
In this page you'll find pictures of my last project, a chrome engined Astra GSi. This started life as a standard car brought for about £2500, but it was worth the wait (6 months looking). Its been well looked after and hasn't been 'bodged', that I can see. After tidying it up by replacing a few standard things, it started undergoing some subtle changes. First was the rear bumper, it had a standard bumper with gsi bottom added to it. It actually looked like the real thing, but I knew it wasn't the correct one, so I got a proper one and then had it sprayed. After this I de-locked and de-rodded it with colour coded Vectra rear door handles, a decent alarm was also fitted. Soon after this the addition of some 17" Koesi Snipers were added as I felt they really suited the car. After seeing some engine bays at Trax 2002, and a friends car i decided to spruce up my engine bay a little. This started well, but I got well and truly bitten by the shiney bug, and went a bit madder. As for the engine internals, the only modifications so far have been a sports air filter, single box sports exhaust without cat, and a polished cylinder head (internally). I do have some other plans for the engine, but as yet I have so many idea's I need to work out what is best for its purpose. This car has been in Total Vauxhall Magazine twice, and has recently won an award for the best engine bay at the Performance Vauxhall Show 2003 at Santa Pod. The money won at the PV2003 show went to good use, i brought a Fredrich Motorsport front splitter, and a polished strut brace. As the show season came to a close i had a quick count up of how much i had spent on this project and found it was in excess of £5000!!!. I decided that i had spent enough on the car and would let someone else continue it onward. I sold the car for £4000, it was a sad day to see it go, but it made sense.
